  oh well before I go swimming let's get back on topic. Re the comment it's " It's a stupid subject for kids to discuss, get it" and highlighted in red so I got it.

  The above link is to a primary school held in very high regard in England and it is interesting that the FRONT page of their home page highlights " class debate- did the moon landing happen" with a picture of 9 & 10 year old children in school uniform debating the issue.

  It should be noted that at my sons school it was the teacher who highlighted bringing the matter to class debate not myself.

  Anyway I am sure we have many more examples of primary's schools that think this debate is relevant for children aged 10, and not a stupid debate.

  Oubliette, I apologise for the intellectual snob, comment. It was not in reference to you not conforming to my ideas, but to your correcting my grammar. ( And of course your correct poor grammar can be used to weaken a persons argument on a debating forum)

  My post was however directed at Oubliette, but as they say great minds think a like.

  My attitude to jobs and money,is find something that you love to do, live largely on little and appreciate health is wealth..

  Oubliette you say are a " professional " educator,. I assume you consider yourself a good one?

  We would both agree it's a wonderful privalige to have an education, which is something denied the children in " Niger"

  However privaliged education often results in nothing more than getting " jobs with the boys" and making money.

  But back on topic, from your post, you say you are a " professional" educator. Am i correct from your post that according to you children of elementary school can not debate the moon landing?

  Why?

  if children of 10 can learn to copy a Rembrant why can't they learn to question?

  if children of 10 can be taught to play chess to a high standard why can't a child of 10 be taught " The Answers Exist" it's the " Questions, that do not"

  How old was Anne Frank when she started her diary? 14 I believe.

  How old was Mesi when he made his professional debut? 14 I believe.

  Romeo and Juliette, although fictional were 14.

  And I believe kids can do wonderful things at fourteen because in the course of those 4 years between 10 and 14, they thrived on being challenged and taught by those I call "professional" educators be it parents or teachers at school.

  You as a " professional" educator seem to think I am really stupid. Why?

  Oubliettte i admit I probably do not fit in to your intellectual snobbery, but I have a successful marriage, a well balanced child of 10 who can fish, play football and can question. I can play guitar, sell my art so I don't need to work. I have my mortgage paid off, whatever...I can also believe the UNIVERSES may be flat, and question that man landed on the moon.

  Anyway my question to you Oubliette, why have you on each post you have made on this thread tried to undermine my point of view, and make me look foolish on a wide world web? To me this is not how a professional educator behaves.

  Just a short post to thank you for your comment " Listener".

  Like you and your husband i was also as a child totally in awe of the USA being able to accomplish the moon landing and broadcast it live from the moon.That's why I am pleased that one of the good things that has come indirectly from starting this thread, is that my child's class are going to debate the issue, as a school project. ( The class is made up of 9 & 10 year olds)

  You asked if I have been swayed from my opinion? In answer I would say I have had to put my boxing gloves on a few times, and I have definitly lost a few rounds, but I think the thread has given validity on the discussion both for and against.

  Although it's a topic for another thread, I totally agree " it was enlightning to see the public reactions to the claim that Iraq was hiding a large amount of weapons of mass destruction" . Everything thus takes us back to the question of " government" trying mastery over the minds of its citizens.

  So to conclude FREE discussion, should never be mocked or ridiculed,. Which is why as I said earlier, I am delighted as a consequence of starting this thread and my boy of 10 mentioning the subject in class," Young citizens" are going to debate the subject as a school project.

  Thanks prologos.

  As a painter I take pride in my artistic achievements, and I am sure governments and scientists take pride in there achievements. It is also the case with great " Art" much of it needs to be challenged and verified that it is authentic.And so it should be so with all things, they should be challenged and proven free of falsity.

  Therefore :-would it be correct that one " objective" of bringing German scientists from Nazi Germany was to deny German expertise and scientific knowledge to the Soviet Union and United Kingdom?

  Is it correct that to circumvent President Trumans anti- Nazi order false employment and political biographies were given the scientists?

  Here I am letting what little credibility I have left be taken away.

  My previous questions were raised, because in MY opinion, by employing ex NAZI scientists NASSA lost their ability to be trusted as an organisation of integrity, and therefore their reputation along with that of the U.S.A should be challenged on the moon landing, on motive such as political advantage and other points raised on the thread.

  However I agree with freemindfade, and I also do not expect governments " to approach things from what I consider ethical" However I think that is a separate issue from my above point, and I am glad as citizens in a free land, we have the right to challenge.

  I watched the" Fox Documentary" on you tube yesterday evening, and in MY opinion the programme was determined only to prove the man landing never happened. I did not find the film balanced at all. I wonder :-

  a) what the motive for making the " documentary" was?

  It certainly appears to have given the subject a high profile.

  finally as I have said in previous posts some subjects cause way to much melodrama, However I would like to add debating can also be collective and educational, so I wonder what have we learnt from this thread? Or let me rephrase that question, so it's not so open to ridicule.:-

  A) Has anyone learnt anything new on the subject from this thread.

  B ) Has anyone had their opinion swayed from this thread.?

  Thank you for bringing to my attention, the scientist Wernher Von Braun, being a former nazi and member of the S.S. I am going to conclude his past actions and sympathies were conveniently overlooked in order for NASSA to use his knowledge.

  What is your personal opinion, do you agree with that stance?
